Lovina Bhavnani-Akowuah is an Assistant Professor of Management who specializes in research relating to leader effectiveness to promote organizational commitment and job performance (leadership styles, Individual outcomes, group outcomes, and leadership development) across generations with specific interest in Generation Z employees. She is a certified executive coach and a SHRM certified professional庐 with over 24 years of professional business experience. She has five years of academic teaching experience teaching management, HR, organizational behavior, training and development, and general business courses.

She holds a BA in Business Administration from the University of East London (UK), and an MBA with a concentration in Human Resources from Fairleigh Dickinson University (NJ). She expects to earn her DBA in 2024 from the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater.

Lovina believes that learning can and should be fun; as such, she aims to let that shine through her delivery to ensure that the students show up and make it to the finish line every semester.

As an immigrant from Ghana and a black female, her interest in diversity stems from her personal experiences in the workplace and society.

Teaching philosophy

My teaching philosophy encompasses integrating management research theories and practical experience while integrating high-impact practices such as experiential learning and scaffolding to promote learning and retention in the classroom.

I recognize that each student has a different learning style, and include a wide range of delivery modalities in daily activities and curriculum development to ensure the needs of the visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners are all met and that activities and assignments are aligned with course outcomes.
